CARD 04 · WHERE IT IS NOW

Quietly, it works.

Buddy has been running in Dad’s kitchen since late spring. It’s been a steady companion. Dad uses it for weather and to pass a message to me. Connie talks to it the way she’d talk to a neighbour who stopped in. That’s the only metric I care about.

The next pieces are calendar integration with the PSW schedule, a heartbeat system so I get a quiet note if a check-in is missed, and a dashboard for the camera and conversation logs. All boring, all necessary.

A 90-year-old man with a walker is looking after his wife every single day because that’s who he is. Buddy is my small hand on the tiller when I’m not there.

Built with Python, Svelte, OpenClaw, Claude, and a lot of weekends. Source is private but I’ll write more about it soon. If you’re thinking about something similar for someone you love, message me — I’ll tell you everything I got wrong.
